Salty Liquorice Syrup

A salty syrup that can be used for many desserts and gives a hit of salmiak that scorches the tongue.

SALTY LIQUORICE SYRUP

200 G HARIBO PIRATOS (LIQUORICE PASTILLES)
4 DL WATER

Bring the water to a boil.

Add the licorice and stir well until dissolved.

Allow the syrup to reduce to a thick syrup at medium heat for about half an hour, stirring periodically.

If it becomes too thick, you can add a little more water.

It will bubble up a lot, but when the syrup is done it only fills half of the original volume.

Pour the syrup on a clean jar and let it cool completely.

Use it on cakes, ice cream, in cream bowls or if you want a hit in the taste buds.
