Christmas Star with Nutella

Happy 3. Sunday of Advent. Last sunday I gave you the recipe for a delicious homemade nutella. And today you get a recipe where you can use that delicious treat. Christmas stars of dough are currently flourishing on the internet and because it looked so delicious and fun, I wanted to join in. The result is quite successful if I should say that myself. And I do say so. 🙂
Do not be scared, it’s not as hard as you would think. 😉

CHRISTMAS STAR WITH NUTELLA

25 G FRESH YEAST
100 ML MILK
40 G BUTTER
40 G SUGAR
½ TSP. GROUND CARDAMOM
1 EGG YOLK
½ TSP. SALT
250 G FLOUR + 1 TBSP.
100 G NUTELLA, IT CAN BE HOMEMADE
1 EGG
SWEDISH PEARL SUGAR FOR DECORATION

Warm milk and butter until the butter is melted and the liquid is no warmer than your little finger.

Stir yeast into the mixture.

Add sugar, cardamom, egg yolk and salt.

Add the flour a little at a time and knead until you havet a smooth and soft dough that does not stick on your fingers.

Let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place and under a cloth.

Scrape the dough out onto a floured table, weigh it and then divide it into four equal balls.

Roll the dough into circles with a diameter of about 21 cm.

Take the first dough circle and place it on a baking sheet with baking paper.

Spread 1/3 of the nutella on top, but keep the edge free.

Place the next circle on top and repeat until the last dough circle is placed as a lid.

Press the layers together and cinch the edge, so the nutella does not escape during the next process.

Take a glass with a diameter of 5 cm and place it in the middle of the “nutella layer cake”. From this the circle 16 straight strips is cut. Do not cut where the glass stands, it will form the middle of the star and will keep it all together.

Remove the glass and form two strips at a time. The strip in the left hand should be twisted twice to the left. The one in the right hand must be twisted twice to the right. Finally, the ends are cinched together.

Repeat until you have a star with 8 points.

Heat the oven up to 190 degrees celsius.

Brush the star with a whisked egg or even an egg yolk for added luxury. Decorated with pearl sugar.

Bake the star for about 25 min until it is golden and it sounds hollow when you tap the bottom.

Let it cool down before it is served. Preferable warm
